Our Beginning

A Love Story Written in Dough

It all started in 2012 when founder Marco Rivera — a third-generation Italian-American — moved to Surprise, Arizona with a suitcase, a sourdough starter, and a dream. Having grown up watching his grandmother stretch and season dough with care and love, Marco believed the community deserved more than ordinary pizza.

What began as a tiny 600 sq ft storefront became the beating heart of Prasada Parkway. Word spread fast. Neighbors became regulars. Regulars became family. Today, Mod Pizza stands as one of the most beloved pizza destinations in the West Valley — not because we scaled up, but because we stayed true to what matters: real ingredients, real people, real community.

Every pizza that leaves our kitchen is crafted by hand, baked in our signature stone-deck ovens, and made with locally sourced produce and imported Italian cheeses. We don't cut corners. We stretch dough.
